Projects
Please enjoy reading about some of my past projects. Some were custom orders and, therefore, one-of-a-kind (Once only...), while some are projects that can be customized for you and your needs (Talk to me)!
Vertical Blinds from Fan Blades
As you might imagine, I have a great many ceiling fan blades from my plant hanger projects. "What to do with all of them?", I asked myself. I needed some sort of window covering for my craft room which is at the front of the house so, after careful measuring, I chose seven pair (I added a pair after the picture was taken) that were in good shape, drilled and bolted them together with ceiling fan bolts for length, connected them with ceiling fan pull chains, added swivels to the tops and mounted them on a steel bar! Voila!
A great testament to the power of recycling/repurposing! I can do this for you... 2023
(Mis)matched Bar Stools
I was able to get these 4 Palmetto stools for a terrific price! No one wanted them because they had no backs. "No problem", I said. "I can make the backs!" I hand bent the open frames from 3/8" steel rod and welded in 1/4" steel rod designs. Each design is different (this is functional ART, after all). After creating mounts and finally attaching them to the newly chalk-painted stools, I was pleased to find that they have a wonderful degree of flex and spring to them and are amazingly comfortable! 2022

Custom shelves for maximizing space
When I found I had a 9" space at the end of my refrigerator cabinet and no place to showcase my vintage Ball Mason jars and West Bend copper canisters, I got to work. This two-legged shelving unit from square tubing and angle iron attaches to the wall with a long strip of flat bar so no damage is done to the cabinet surface. The shelves are stair treads cut to size and distressed with paints and stains to coordinate with the kitchen decor. The fact that they are 1" thick and already bullnosed makes for a beautiful and sturdy unit. Do you have any unused space?
I can make these shelves for you up to 48" wide and 12" deep and as high as you need! 2022
More custom shelves
In order to make use of another space for collectables/beautiful, useful pieces, I created a similar and yet different set of shelves. These shelves also feature two legs but only one leg on each supporting side. Installed in a different manor, the tall shelf appears to be standing on two legs. The hanging shelf appears suspended. A really fun illusion! Stair tread shelving as above, stained, painted, and distressed (if desired) to match your decor!

Celia's Desk
Custom project for my friend Celia who wanted a standing desk. After running a few different ideas by her for an unusual desktop, she settled on this window frame that had been painted a hideous mustard color.
I stripped off most of the paint (a little paint left on adds character) add headed to the sawmill for some lovely walnut. I picked out some colorful pieces for the top of the desk, support pieces, and stringer, and some gorgeous cocoa tinted boards for the legs that I cut to mimic the spires in the window frame. The only element that I shopped out were the four laser cut "C"s that I inserted into thinly sliced medallions for the four legs. This desk is glued, screwed, and plugged with no hardware showing. Given a clear satin coat to bring out the beauty of the walnut, it is topped with 3/8" glass. 2018
Table for Bill
This was a wonderfully zen custom-ordered table to design and build as a special surprise for a special friend's shore house. Built from poplar to be light weight and to give a beautiful green glow to the finish (poplar has a very green cast to it), this table showcases an aluminum bowl that I rubbed with charcoal to bring out the flying goose relief. I lovingly threaded and hand tied the authentic fish netting to the aluminum rods inside the top frame and also tied some of Bill's driftwood to the gathered netting in a random pattern. The fun illusion is when you look down on the table, it looks as if the bowl is sitting on the glass top when actually, as you view it from the side, it's mounted underneath! 2020
